I love our little home. My husband and I moved in to this rental house after we learned we were pregnant. I was pregnant when we moved in but even now, I still feel like I’m nesting, reorganizing, and decorating! I’ve been reworking some of the rooms in the house so I thought I’d share a little home tour with you! To preface this post, I’m still finding my design style but for now I’m calling it Comfortably Chic. 😉 By this I mean, I don’t compromise when it comes to comfort. It’s important to me that people who enter our home feel comfortable, however, comfortable doesn’t mean frumpy! 😉 I enjoy effortlessness and blending cool colors and layering textures.
Speaking of chic, you’ll notice a little theme running through our home decor. In most every corner you’ll see a sweet little glass votive in various colors all throughout our home. These are glassybaby votives! Each votive is crafted from hand-blown glass and is given a unique name to match its color. 10% of each glassybaby sale goes to their white light fund that helps people, animals, and the planet (read more here). How cool!
Why do I sprinkle these throughout our home? Well, each one was a gift given to me by someone special at a memorable, joyful, or even difficult time in my life. I was given blue-eyes by my brother-in-law (my first glassybaby!) for my birthday, given joy by a close friend as a Christmas gift, given baby from my old boss and good friend after giving birth to Macey…the list goes on. 😉 All of these gifts I remember so vividly and seeing them around my house reminds me of those special people and those memorable times!
I’ve also given glassybaby votives to family and friends as gifts. They’re special for birthdays, anniversaries, congratulations, but also are sweet gifts in situations where there aren’t words to say. Most recently I sent one to a friend going through a rough season in the hopes of “brightening” her day. 🙂 I love scrolling through glassybaby’s website when I have a particular friend or family member on my mind. I love the feeling I get when I find the perfectly named votive for that person. Very special.

Living Room
Our living room is the first room you enter when coming in the front door. It’s been fun to work this space into something functional for our family of three. We needed this space to work for family time, a play space for Macey, as well as a work space for me!
My beautiful mother-in-law made this amazing wall hanging for me. I pulled together a post showing you how you can do this yourself: here!
Home Office
We carved out a little home office for me behind our sectional and I love how cozy it is!

Macey’s “Playroom” Corner
Also a part of our living room is Macey’s corner filled with her toys, play mat, and blankets. She loves hanging out here, especially because it’s by a window. She loves looking outside!

At the front of our living room is a little corner full of color! Here is where I have a gorgeous faux-peony in this fun vase from IKEA, a cluster of my favorite glassybabies, and my Wildbird ring sling collection. 🙂

Master Bedroom
Through the kitchen and dining room is our master bedroom. I love renting an older house because we have so many fun built-ins that I’ve had so much fun decorating. I’ve focused on making our master bedroom cozy and inviting, mixing textures and calming colors. I usually swap out the pillow covers as seasons change, but this pillow combination is one of my favorites. Anyone else have a husband who doesn’t believe in throw pillows? 😉 Mine is so sweet and indulges my addiction. I save major money on throws by buying covers only and switching the covers up when I want a change!

What do you think? Have I captured Comfortably Chic (#oneday #goals)? I’m constantly moving and changing pieces throughout our house so if you come over anytime soon, likely everything will be different. 😉 But what I love is that our home and it’s walls are full of pictures of my family and every corner reminds me of some of my most favorite people and memories.
