I’m not sure I could explain fully my love for family photos. They can feel stressful, chaotic, or even a total disaster but I have found they are always worth it! Capturing ages and stages with my kids will always be priceless to me and there’s something about those high quality images…right?
My friend Chelsea (an amazing photographer, and one of our favorites to shoot with) and I wrote a little guide to survive family photos together, linked here. This is a great resource if you have small kids and want some tools and encouragement in preparation for your family photos!
Today, however, I want to talk about YOU. Do you love planning everyone’s outfits or is it something you dread? I’m hoping this post can make things a little easier on you as I highlight THE place to start when building your family’s outfit color pallet…YOU! Always always always start with your outfit. It’s so important for you to feel comfortable and beautiful, so start with you first and build from there.
This post will be a shopping guide to help you find something beautiful & comfortable! Apologies in advance to those of you who don’t love wearing dresses. This is 100% a dress guide. I’m a dress girl through and through and will be sharing mostly those (although I have a jumpsuit or two)!
My Top Dress Pick
When I found this floral midi length blue dress with sheer sleeves, I knew it would be a favorite! I love pieces that flow and offer a variety of interesting details (functional buttons, a ruffle hem, or a sheer sleeve, etc.) but it has to be comfortable. The last thing I want is to be worried about bending over or adjusting something every five seconds!
Generally, I gravitate towards deep colors for family photos because that’s the color pallet that works best for me and my family but, for this post, I tried to include deep colors, neutral options, as well as floral and maternity options for you below! I can’t wait for you to check them out!
